4 Tips to Simplify Your Next Move
Who out there loves moving? Anyone? …ANYONE? I think we can all collectively agree that moving can be overwhelming, stressful, and just overall exhausting.
You’ve purchased your dream home and you can’t wait to move in but the actual process of moving is daunting. I’ve put together 4 simpleĀ tips that will help you feel more organized and in-control of your next move!
Create an “open first” box
Designate one box as “OPEN FIRST” and make sure to label it on all sides of the box. Fill it with items you will need right away so you don’t have to go searching. Ideas include:
- toilet paper
- paper towels
- paper plates and utensils
- trash bags
- cleaning wipes/supplies
- remote controls
This simple step will ensure you will be able to find the items you will need right away!
Pack a suitcase for each family member
The idea here is similar to our first tip: pack a suitcase for each family member. The suitcase should include the essentials that each family member needs for the first few days in your new home. This includes:
- clothes (pajamas, underwear, outfits for a few days)
- toiletries
- any of your kids’ favorite things (loveys, favorite toys, blankets, etc)
- a set of sheets for each family member if space allows so you can easily set up each person’s bed for the first night
Unpack these spaces first
Set up your kitchen + kid’s spaces FIRST! Setting up your kid’s spaces first gives your kids something to do and keeps them occupied so you can continue unpacking the rest of your home.
The kitchen is the next essential space. You need to eat! And your kids probably asked you for a snack the moment you got to the new house. šĀ The kitchen is often the most time-consuming space but once it’s done really allows you to feel like your house is a home.
